Contact Lens Evaluations and Expert Lens Fitting

The doctors at Pascarella Eye Care & Contact Lenses specialize in fitting contact lenses on some of the most challenging and difficult conditions affecting the eye. What makes a fitting difficult may be an irregular cornea or front surface of the eye.  Conditions including keratoconus, irregular astigmatism, post-Lasik, refractive and strabismic amblyopia, and presbyopia can often create suboptimal vision. Dr. Pascarella, a leader in the field of specialty contact lenses, is able to use his over 25 years of experience and knowledge of lenses available to best suit you and your needs. He has been recognized for his expertise in fitting bifocal and multifocal contact lenses, toric (astigmatism) lenses, hyper-oxygen lenses, rigid gas permeable, scleral lenses and hybrid lens designs.

Our doctors use all the latest lens materials and designs from the leading manufacturers including Coopervision, Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson, Alcon Vision, and Synergeyes.  Many patients are enjoying clear, comfortable vision at all distances, from up close to the computer, as well as, across the office and driving at night with Rigid Gas Permeable Multifocals, Hybrid lenses (hard center with a soft skirt), and soft multifocal contact lenses.

Contact Lens Evaulation

The contact lens evaluation usually takes place following a full ocular health assessment.  We then review your options in detail and begin to customize a contact lens fitting specific to your needs.  The curvature of the eye is evaluated using the latest equipment to determine if distortions are evident which may create some difficulty in obtaining a patient's best corrected vision.  Corneal topography and the Eaglet Eye Surface Profiler provide the most precise measurements of the front surface of the eye and assist in obtaining the most accurate outcome. The evaluation does not stop at the initial fitting session but continues until it is determined the vision, fit and response to the contact lenses is optimal. 

​​​​​​​The best results may take several visits.  If you have never worn contacts one of our technicians, along with the doctor, will take the time to teach you how to insert and remove your lenses until you are comfortable with the process.  Your personalized contact lens care system will be reviewed in detail.  We are always available for additional instruction and for any issues or problems which may arise.   Contact lenses are medical devices and are a responsibility regardless of age.  With close monitoring and proper care, we can reduce potential risks and complications to enjoy the great benefits contact lenses offer.  There are many different shapes and sizes of contact lenses with many different shapes of eyes which presents an unlimited combination of outcomes.  Contact lenses are fit to an individual patient and often need a more custom manufactured product.

We have fit patients as young as 3 years old for medical reasons. 

For those young patients struggling with amblyopia or lazy eye there are several options which may provide the best chance for normal usable vision.

Athletes are benefiting with contact lenses giving crisper vision and an expanded field of view.

For those over 40 years old and beyond the “my arms aren't long enough syndrome” may be helped with multifocal contact lenses.
